Modern humans have the ability to interpret, evaluate and infer meaning from information presented in the form of an image. How images are 'read' depends on the visual codes and conventions that exist in our society. This lead me to the questions: How dependent are we on these existing visual norms? and how big is the richness and variety of ideas which exist in society's visual memory?
Ther ability to under stand the nature of visual language and how to use it effectively are daily challenges for designers. In order to understand visual vocabulary, several persons from different backgrounds were asked to draw various concepts. They were instructed to use their own imagination of concrete and abstract concepts.
After asking a lot of people to visualize various concepts for me, I gained a rich collection of drawings. In order to understand the logical and lateral thinking in the drawings by individuals, the collection is combined into a playful book.
